Level One Speech and Drama

Equivalent: Pre-school speech and drama qualification
Age: 4 years old and above

Examination Syllabus (8 minutes)

• Telling and acting out a story from memory (40%)
• Performing a poem from memory (40%)
• A discussion with the examiner on the performed pieces (20%)

Level Two Speech and Drama

Equivalent: Lower Primary speech and drama qualification
Age: 7 years old and above

Examination Syllabus (10 minutes)

• Telling and acting out a story from memory (20%)
• Performing a play extract from memory (20%)
• Performing a poem from memory (20%)
• Performing a short mime from a prepared story (20%)
• A discussion with the examiner on the performed pieces (20%)

Equivalent: Upper Primary speech and drama qualification
Age: 10 years old and above

Examination Syllabus (15 minutes)

• Telling and acting out a story from memory (20%)
• Performing a play extract from memory (20%)
• Performing a poem from memory (20%)
• Improvise a prepared piece of text given by the examiner  (20%)
• A discussion with the examiner on the performed pieces (20%)

Equivalent: Upper Secondary speech and drama qualification
Age: 15 years old and above

Examination Syllabus (30 minutes)

• Telling and acting out a story from memory (15%)
• Performing two play extracts with contrasting emotions and mood from memory (30%)
• Performing a poem from memory (15%)
• Improvise a prepared piece of text given by the examiner  (15%)
• A prepared speech on the acting techniques and other considerations for the performed pieces (10%)
• A discussion with the examiner on the performed pieces (15%)

Equivalent: Post Secondary speech and drama qualification
Age: 17 years old and above
Required:  Level Five in Speech and Drama if age requirement is not met

Examination Syllabus (40 minutes)

• Perform 4 play extracts (monologues) of contrasting emotions and moods (50%)
• A prepared speech on the acting techniques and other considerations for the performed pieces (10%)
• Perform 1 prepared text by the examiners (10%)
• React to 1 scenario given by the examiner (10%)
• A discussion with the examiner on the performed pieces (20%)

Age: 18 years old and above
Required:  Certificate in Speech and Drama if age requirement is not met

Examination Syllabus (50 minutes)

• Perform 4 play extracts (monologues) of contrasting emotions and moods (45%)
• A prepared speech on the acting techniques and other considerations for the performed pieces (10%)
• Perform 2 prepared texts by the examiners (15%)
• React to 1 scenario given by the examiner (10%)
• A discussion with the examiner on the performed pieces (20%)
