Lovers' Word /

16 - 18 April 2004 Esplanade Theatre Studio

Lovers’ Words is a story about a boy and a girl falling in love in a mainstream homosexual society. “Why is homosexual society mainstream?”, one might ask. By simply responding to that with “Why not?” seems to be indicative of a move toward advocacy, but if this reality become real, will heterosexuals have a voice to humanity? Questions such as “Can a boy love a girl?” and “Can we love the one whom we have chosen?” will be as valid as the questions homosexuals present themselves with in the present day. Maybe, the society needs to move away from such rhetorical questions, and move on with others : “Is there a space for alternative love?” Or, “Is there a right/wrong way to love?” Let the story tell. It might not be presented with strict linearity, but the basic story of the boy and the girl will certainly draw on a different light when they try to embark on this journey.
