Profile /
The Fun Stage was first established in September 2001 and later converted to a company Limited By Guarantee in July 2004. The full-time company has always been acting as a platform for young artists to collaborate together to generate new synergies that leads to multi-disciplinary and multi-layered performances. We have also conceptualized projects beyond the genre of theatre these recent two years. In the long run, we hope to be the leading creative concept-based company in Singapore to initiate such collaborations and push young artists from different artistic arenas to a higher level.
Our company direction is ‘Initiating International Collaboration’. We believe in working with artists from different countries to generate artistic exchanges to learn, share and be exposed to different ideas and creations. Upon which, we will apply the new ideas in local works in collaboration with local artists to experiment, innovate and to generate new and original works. The cycle continues as we share and exchange our new creations with foreign artists. In this spirit of collaboration, we believe in improving quality of works and generating new genres in our creative process.
Currently, we operate with 5 core divisions. They include a main season of performances locally and internationally. We also present a series of educational plays (Eduplays), a Mission-based Arts Portal (Project Mis-sion) and several conceptualized art courses and events. Since 2005, The Fun Stage also presented our first performance festival in Singapore, Initiation International. The festival has since garner the participation of artists from France, United States of America, Israel, Germany, United Kingdom, India, Philippines and Singapore, including Nobel Laureate for Literature (2000), Mr. Gao Xingjian.
